Job Summary
The Prep Cook is responsible for preparing specific ingredients that form the foundation of Akadu Bistro’s exceptional dishes. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining food safety and hygiene standards. Prep Cooks work collaboratively with the Prep Lead and other kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate ingredient preparation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare a variety of food items, including vegetables, meats, seafood, and sauces.
- Chop, slice, dice, and grate ingredients as needed.
- Marinate meats and poultry.
- Make stocks, soups, and sauces.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Follow standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
- Minimize waste through proper portioning and effective use of ingredients.
- Ensure that all prep equipment, such as knives, peelers, and cutting boards, is cleaned and maintained.
- Collaborate with the Prep Lead to communicate ingredient needs and shortages.
- Participate in inventory control and food ordering.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Previous kitchen experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
