Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Food Preparation and Cooking
- Execute recipes according to standardized procedures, ensuring dishes are prepared to the correct portion size, flavor, and presentation standards.
- Prepare ingredients for assigned dishes, including chopping, measuring, and portioning.
- Operate kitchen equipment (e.g., grills, ovens, fryers) safely and efficiently.
2. Station Management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked workstation during shifts.
- Prepare and cook items specific to the assigned station (e.g., sauté, grill, or fry).
- Work collaboratively with other stations to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
3. Quality Assurance
- Ensure all dishes meet Akadu Bistro’s quality and consistency standards before serving.
- Report any issues with recipes, ingredients, or kitchen equipment to the Sous Chef or Executive Chef.
4. Food Safety and Hygiene
- Follow food safety protocols, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of ingredients.
- Regularly clean and sanitize workstations, tools, and equipment.
- Comply with local health and safety regulations.
5. Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure timely service and smooth coordination during busy shifts.
- Support fellow cooks and kitchen assistants when needed to maintain workflow.
- Participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions to improve skills and knowledge.
Qualifications and Skills:
Required Skills and Experience
- Education: Diploma or certificate in Culinary Arts (preferred but not mandatory).
- Experience:
- At least 1–2 years of experience as a cook in a professional kitchen.
- Familiarity with a range of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knife skills and ingredient preparation knowledge.
- Ability to execute recipes accurately and efficiently.
Soft Skills
- Attention to detail to ensure consistency in flavor and presentation.
- Strong time management skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure.
