As an Inventory Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the seamless flow of inventory to support our operations and delight our customers.

Job Summary

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing and tracking all inventory activities, including stock receipt, organization, and monitoring. This role ensures that inventory is accurate, well-organized, and readily available to support Akadu Bistro’s operations. The Inventory Specialist will also liaise with suppliers and internal teams to maintain optimal stock levels, reduce waste, and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Inventory Management

  • Monitor stock levels and ensure items are adequately stocked for operational needs.

  • Record and track inventory movements, including receipts, dispatches, and adjustments, in inventory management systems.

  • Conduct regular and periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies with system records.

  • Ensure the accuracy of inventory records by maintaining detailed and up-to-date documentation.

Stock Handling

  • Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy, quality, and damage; report any discrepancies to the supplier or purchasing team.

  • Label and organize inventory items in storage areas for easy identification and retrieval.

  • Rotate stock to minimize waste and ensure items are used within their shelf life.

  • Prepare items for dispatch to other departments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.

Supplier Coordination

  • Work with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods.

  • Report delays, shortages, or quality issues to the Inventory Manager or relevant teams.

  • Track pending orders and update stakeholders on expected delivery timelines.

Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure that all inventory meets Akadu Bistro’s quality and safety standards.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in storage areas to comply with hygiene and safety regulations.

  • Identify and isolate damaged, expired, or non-compliant stock for appropriate action.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Generate inventory reports, including stock levels, turnover rates, and waste analysis.

  • Analyze inventory trends and provide recommendations to improve stock efficiency.

  • Assist in setting reorder points to avoid overstocking or stockouts.

Process Improvement

  • Recommend and implement process improvements to streamline inventory operations.

  • Stay updated on best practices in inventory management and suggest tools or techniques to enhance efficiency.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Required Skills and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or related roles.

    • Hands-on experience with inventory management systems or software.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other inventory tracking tools.

    • Familiarity with inventory control procedures and best practices.

Soft Skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate inventory records.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with suppliers and internal teams.

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to dynamic operational needs.
